The Worldwide Institute of
Software Architects (WWISA) is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to
establishing a formal profession of software architecture and to providing
information and services to software architects and their clients.
The Institute believes that there is a natural connection between building
and software architecture, and that the role of architect – providing a
bridge between client and builder – needs to be introduced into the software
construction industry.
WWISA was established in 1998 and now has over 1,500 members in 53
countries. Members participate to promote training and degree programmes,
develop architectural standards and guiding principles, and work towards
creating a standard body of shared knowledge.
The New Zealand Chapter was established in 2000, and currently meets in Auckland and Wellington.
